Description:
Responding to Government Claims is a half-day course designed to provide an overview of the claims presentation and agency response requirements of the California Government Claims Act. Attendees will be introduced to the Act and its strict requirements. The course is designed for agency risk management and other staff who receive, investigate, and respond to liability claims. The course will provide an overview of relevant laws and best practices. The program is intended as an open forum with questions invited. It will include handouts made available to the participants.
About The Instructor:
Neal Meyers graduated with the highest honors from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, concentrating on local government. After that, he attended law school at the University of San Diego. Neal then embarked on a notable law career defending public agencies and businesses in claims ranging from excessive use of force to public works contract disputes. In doing so, he earned the highest possible rating in legal ability and ethical standards from his peers. Neal contributed to the California League of Cities Municipal Law Handbook, and he lectured many times to small and large groups on government liability, contracts, and public works disputes. After close to 40 years of lawyering, Neal recently retired from active litigation, and he shares what he has learned and continues to learn with you.
